My story starts with an innate fascination with human behavior and how we use things. While working in sales and business development, the gears in my mind were constantly spinning as I identified one missed opportunity after another in the usability of the products I was selling. This led me to interaction design. At this point you can just say I'm obsessed with human-centered design, sustainability, and future thinking.
While at Punchcut I have continued my specialization in the future of autonomous mobility. I have focused on designing automotive experiences from external communication on vehicles to autonomous ride-sharing. These projects have involved qualitative/quantitative research studies, interaction design/prototyping, and user testing. I have led research efforts locally as well as internationally, and designed a variety of experiences focusing on future vision as well as experiences immediately buildable and releasable.
As part of the autonomous driving project, I provided the methodologies and design process for the UX of the product. I participated in all stages of the design process: design research, synthesis, concepting, and prototyping. I also led strategic participatory activities in evangelizing UX within the company.
While on the Personalization team I developed a concept for Amazon’s approach to the contemporary market, using the full design process of research, synthesis, concepting, and prototyping. I completed the internship with presentations to senior leadership from multiple teams.
I led the UX design of a web application for the future of valve predictive technology, and an iOS application managing and alerting engineer teams of turbine machinery. I conducted user validation interviews with Chevron, ExxonMobile, and Set Point. I worked using Agile development methods.
The Interaction Design program at CCA has been the primary catalyst for developing my design methodologies and skillset.
From observations, interviews, and quantitative data to synthesizing findings and identifying opportunities – this is where my social side plays nicely with my systematic processes side.
Whether I'm brainstorming new products or systems for changing behavior, this is where my previous experience in business development and working with startups plays an influential role. I am able to envision the whole picture of feasibility, impact, implementation, etc., using a decade of experience to guide my logic.
The best way to test an idea – quickly make it and get people to use it. Build, test, and learn. I have developed both rapid prototyping as well as high fidelity prototyping skills, using electronics, interactive UI applications, and a variety of physical materials.
As an experience designer I design fluidity between all of the elements of a system, creating a seamless, immersive experience. Story-telling, play design, and systems design all contribute to my skillset in this space.
